I must tell you about this film, it left many questions in my mind.

Definitely not a film for the faint hearted so if you don’t like sex and violence, don’t go and see this film. Or if you have a condition that prevents you from sitting for nearly 3 hours, after adverts, then don’t go and see this film! This is definitely comic book hero stuff bought to life! No kryptonite here or pow / ka pow, but wham bam thank you mam! The attention to the characters uniqueness is stunning, the effects are good too. However, this is not a film for the feminist; here women are portrayed as objects of lust rather than on par with their male counterparts. Although the plastic can suck it up and in, to provide an alluring look! Don’t be fooled, she fights back.  If you have ever seen ‘Sin City’ then you will recognise those elements in Watchman. On another level, it is a stab at human greed and lust and what it can bring out in mankind, a power struggle. As always there is someone at hand to save the day, no not a woman, although it does leave a bitter taste, kind of judgemental of mankind, not far wrong! For me, the hero was the guy who suffered as a child, but did not turn evil, however dealt with those who offended in a concise manner, yet never waived in his beliefs to do good and rid of evil, although not in a P.C way. He is also the narrator of events,  a deep voiced, P.I type guy, who smokes, drinks and stands on the corner watching events unfold and in the end he is inadvertently the whistleblower – whole round hero for me.

I recommend this as a watch as well as a read! A real effort to bring the pages of Moore’s work to life, not all will appreciate this, I know – human nature.  If you go and see this film, ask who decides what is best for mankind? And is there a purpose for human life if we end up destroying ourselves, evolution or ignorance?  It can mean many things to many people on different levels, dependent upon your viewpoint.  Do you have a viewpoint on the film, Watchman?
